January 4-9, 2022 Miami

Day 1-2

  • Visited my high school friend Anya and met her boyfriend Jeff for the first time
  • Loved starting off the new year with COVID Omicron edition and ~Miami~. In my defense, I did not have symptoms before getting on the plane to Miami but the next day boy did I feel it. I had the worst sore throat of my life, night sweats, and lost my voice.
  • The warm weather was such a nice change of pace though from the cold weather in NYC/Canada/VA. I am a huge fan of going to a warm location in the winter to break it up.

  • They’re in the art district so got to walk around and see a whole lot of beautiful murals and enjoy their patio with perfect sunny weather

  • Ramen and tofu bowls for lunch with icecream for dessert
  • Explored Wynwood art park which had more colorful murals and interesting sculptures

Day 5

  • Vizcaya Museum and Garden was for sure the highlight of the trip. Everything was so beautiful and lovely. It was also way bigger than I anticipated it to be. Definitely a whole day affair and worth just leisurely walk around.
  • Saw a fun lizard and played with a cute little pond bird. The orchids in the house were real too.

Day 6

  • Last day and ending it with kingdomino another banger of a game. At this point, I think Prash also caught Omicron and was feeling it pretty badly so he wasn’t doing too well… in the game.
  • Headed to the airport and got two empanadas as a fun snack before boarding.

Hope to be back soon, but without COVID!

December 2021 Wrap Up

  • Early December traveled up to Canada and visited Edmonton and Banff.
  • NYC Christmas adventures with Prash’s family ended short with surge of COVID omicron edition (boo)
  • Corolla Beach house Christmas with my family. Everyone really went all out on gifts this year. It was awesome. Played national parks board game.

  • Saw spiderman in a fancy theatre with shannon. Gotta watch all the previous spiderman movies now.
  • Had savery oats for the first time via shannon
  • Failed my CCRN exam by 4 points… felt super bad about this and was worried I wouldn’t be able to work my first icu travel nurse contract. It ended up being ok but still disappointed in myself post Christmas.

  • Arrow dinner reunion in NOVA

December 2-11, 2021 Canada

Part 1 BANFF

  • Parents dropped us off at the airport with yummy fruit and kimbap
  • Gina-mama picked us up at the calgary airport I believe and Prash drove us to the cabin close by to BANFF.
  • I got to sleep on a comfy bed while Prash slept in this cute orange cocoon sleeping bag on the first floor
  • In the morning we walked around BANFF and it was SO cold. -10 degrees F but thankfully with no wind.
  • It was so beautiful but definitely left me wanting for more. Will have to return in the summer time to see it then.

Part 2 Edmonton

  • Majority of our time was spent in Edmonton after a quick pit stop at Linda and Jacob’s place. We were able to get them their first ornament of two little booties to welcome in their soon to be little girl.

  • Beat Prash in mini golf for the first time at the local mall which had both a skating rink and waterpark inside!
  • Bouldered at the local climbing gym
  • chopped up some ice on the side walk for the first time. People in Edmonton are built different!
  • Had to take an OCHEM exam but crushed it thankfully
  • Had a mini breakdown when our flight told us it was going to be delayed an extra day… the sun was rising at 10am and setting at 4pm, simultaneously studying for my OCHEM final and CCRN exam which I would have to take when I got back to the states and trying to turn in all my paperwork for my first travel nurse job. I was not well.
  • Thankfully Prash’s family were super supportive through all of it and we had a constant flow of yummy snacks and Wheel of Time to watch
  • This would also be our last trip before I also got TSA precheck and was quite memorable. “Sir please take off your shoes” “But they’re sandals” “Prash, take off your shoes” “Oh ma’am you can keep your shoes on” “What…?”

November 2021 Wrap Up

November brought new transitions and vibrant foliage!

  • Yi and Truman’s cabin wedding. Learned about Jack in the box games (Rap battle) and Untitled Goose game (RAKE IN THE LAKE). Played mini golf.. Prashanth beat me but one day I will be victorious!
  • Dairy Market with Mia and Natalie
  • Prashanth and I spending the holidays together for the first time celebrating Thanksgiving day with my family and then the weekend with his family in Williamsburg
  • Had my last day at STICU with an eventful admit but feeling like a boss. Teared up as I clocked out because I will miss the team and patients. 2.5 years with UVA. Next up: travel nursing in Richmond!

October 2021 Wrap Up

October was such a fun month!

  • Big bro got my pearl pendant fixed for my birthday
  • Got to see Angela and Christian for the first time since their wedding and they got to meet Prashsanth.
  • Traveled to Chicago for the weekend for the wedding of Prashanth’s childhood friend from New York. It was super well done and had beautiful pieces of the bride’s Chinese background mixed in with a traditional dragon dance.
  • Met up with Mercy for the first time since Jordan and she also got to meet Prashanth. Indiana Dunes National Park
  • Jukebox the Ghost in DC at the 930 club for Prashanth’s delayed birthday present
  • Attempted to do the triple crown in one day as a throwback memory but we ended up only doing McAfee knob and Dragon’s Tooth… note to self should probably not attempt a 24+ mile hike on your heaviest period day. We still had a good time and grabbed brunch at a cute little diner
  • STICU winery day
  • Homecoming and last YAR feels bittersweet but thankful for all the friends who came into town
  • Traveled to NC Outer Banks for Alex and Atticus’s wedding. Tried my luck on a one wheel (way harder than anticipated). Played spike ball for the first time and I’m pretty good! Burned the bottoms of my feet from a freak bonfire incident (ouch!) Prashanth was so good to me through it and soaked my feet in cold water. One of us got a little too turnt, but such a funny memory now.
  • Costco date with chicken bake and berry ice cream
  • Rockclimbed outside
  • Watched No time to die (last movie in the James Bond series) 4/5 great action but meh dialogue
  • Said goodbye to Alan my fave travel nurse and future CRNA

  • face masks with Shannon got me geeked

September 2021 Wrap Up

  • Saw Shang Chi and it was so fun! Loved the romance between the dad and mom (iconic). The different fighting styles also reminded me of the fire nation vs air nomad tribe like in Avatar the last airbender.
  • Visited Veritas Winery for my 25th birthday and had dinner at Now and Zen with the parents. Ended the night with some sweet tiramisu cake (my fave).
  • Got to celebrate Prash’s 26th birthday later in the month too with carrot cake and McDonald’s breakfast and a Horton winery visit with the worker also sharing his birthday! What are the odds? Lost in tic tac toe but can’t win em all.
  • Visited Merrie Mill this time with Alan (travel nurse friend) and there was also a vintage car show going on
  • Changed out my air filter for the first time in 1.5 years… oops.
  • Iconic honey nectar wine at Keswick winery “can you see the gold?”
  • Glasshouse winery with sonia and Mia
  • Mount Ida winery with STICU friends. Played splendor and was low key under dressed… didn’t get the memo it was one of the fancier wineries.
  • Stone Mountain winery was beautiful and possibly my favorite winery so far but man it was a climb/off road adventure to get there. My car also broke down just as we got back to cville so that was no bueno. Had to use Troy and Drew Precious’s AAA to help get my car back to my apt complex

Lots to celebrate in September and getting super close to finishing the Monticello winery trail! Feeling excited for year 25 and sentimental looking back at year 24.
